Départs

The trip, not me.

From Basel SBB I took the train(s) to Geneva Airport. I had to change trains twice at Biel/Bienne and at Renens VD (close to Lausanne). The connections were tight at 5/8 minutes, but in true Swiss Railways style, it was as smooth and easy as you could possibly imagine.

All three trains were on time and comfortable.

Confort

I spent the night at the Nash Airport Hotel – a new name for me but it was very pleasant and the room was excellent value. That happens in airport hotels on Saturday nights. It is just a 10 minute walk from the airport but it operates a shuttle and it was raining, so I jumped on.

Cool

Next morning I was on the go bright and early for a 10.45 easyJet flight to Edinburgh. The bag drop and security were super easy. Passport control was a nightmare. I made it to the gate at the same time as the “final call” announcement.

À la Prochaine, Switzerland

The flight was on time, and was not busy. For once Edinburgh Airport was operating the way it always should, and I was on the bus to the park and ride very quickly.

What a great trip it turned out to be. It had its problematic bits but that is to be expected when the itinerary involves four flights with three airlines, two train journeys and five hotels in five different countries.
