October Escape

Back Shore, Findhorn

My latest escape is underway. Three hours in the car, headed north to Speyside again.

This time I have a cottage instead of a fancy hotel, and it is closest to Rothes. Rothes is a 4 distillery town, with 1,200 inhabitants. Glen Grant may be the best known of the distilleries.

The cottage is a mile from the nearest main road, up a tiny single track farm road. The silence is total.

After I arrived I just dropped my stuff and headed to the coast for a walk on the beach at sunset. Ideal.

Then I had fish and chips sitting outside in the twilight.

Al Fresco Dining

Also ideal – it really hit the “I’m on holiday” button.
