October is usually a month when I am certain to be taking a trip somewhere. I have a birthday this month, and have now reached the age where each one is a little more precious (the more so for still being fit enough to travel).
My Plan A for October fell through. I had volunteered my time and money to a charity project, but the people involved seem to be utterly disorganised and did not bother to tell me my offer was not required. Weird, but true.
Plan B turned out to be a couple of nights in Köln. Yes, again. The flights with Eurowings were good value and well timed. I found a good deal for a hotel – the Steigenberger. I know the city, but also knew I could find plenty to do and see.
It is great to be back in Germany. It is great to be scraping the rust off my language skills. I love the food here. My hotel is lovely. The weather is gorgeous.
I am almost pleased Plan A did not happen.
