As Usual

Smoked Haddock Pie

A football and Parkrun trip just had to be part of my big travel month.

Dundee Dusk

So it was that I had an overnight stay in Dundee with the twin objectives of running the local Parkrun (at Camperdown Park) and watching my team (Queen’s Park) play at nearby Arbroath.

Well, the Sun Shone

These jaunts have no hard and fast rules, but one guideline which comes very close to being a rule is that my travel is by public transport. For this one I used CityLink buses between my local park and ride (Halbeath) and Dundee. Stagecoach services took me to Arbroath and back. Stagecoach also provided the services between the city centre and Camperdown.

All but one were on time. They were all pleasant and comfortable.

My lodgings were at the Staybridge Suites – city centre but slightly away from the noise and bustle of the main streets. It was excellent. Comfortable, clean, good value and a super breakfast. Last but not least – great staff.

Wishart’s Arch. Dundee

The Parkrun was tough, but I enjoyed the sense of achievement, the exercise, the fresh autumn air and the lovely setting. It was my 149th in just over 3 years.

First Timers’ Briefing

The football was tough as well. We lost 1-4, but missing 7 injured first team regulars was too much for us. I enjoyed the visit to Arbroath apart from that – lovely October sunshine, sea air and a few local delicacies to try out.

Arbroath Harbour

That will be it for football excursions for a while… until November at least.
