Being Different

I Agree

Part of my plan for October was to get the right balance between doing the familiar (inside my comfort zone) and the more challenging.

A midweek stay in Glasgow certainly does not count as challenging, but it is unusual for me.

The reason was I wanted to attend a book launch and fundraiser at The Stand. Yes, I could have made my way home afterwards but… well, why not be a little different. Just a little.

The Stand

The event was to publicise the launch of Peter Oborne’s book “Complicit”. It is about the collusion between the UK Government and the UK media aimed at hiding the slaughter and ethnic cleansing by the Israeli Government in Gaza.

The fundraising was for Medical Aid for Palestinians. It gets money from me every month anyway, but a little more has to be a good thing. The event raised about £2,500.

Chilo’s

The Stand is a comedy venue. An ironic choice for a discussion about mass killings. The event was organised and hosted by The National – part of the UK media but not complicit in the cover up.

The event was sold out. Peter’s book sold out too. I was delighted to be part of it, although I was too far back in the queue to get a copy of the book.

I stayed at the Social Hub again. Should I have gone somewhere different to try to be different? Well, too late now!

Comfort Zone

I did try somewhere new for food before the event – a fast food joint called Chilo’s Burgers. I can recommend their burritos.
